Kind of a highlight, because it is just a special place. We went there outside of tourist season and just happened to meet the owner when he was around. He is extremely friendly and spontaneously invited us for a tour through his private collection (I would rather call this place a private collection than a museum). He divides it into 3 parts: history, folklore and minerals. He has all kinds of stuff from very different places and ages, some originals, replicas, family heritage or just randomly gathered. If you are looking for facts and a structured museum, this is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for an experience and some nice stuff and artifacts in a vague historical context, this place is really worth it. The owner build this place from scratch to look like an Ancient Greek structure hired 2 guys for mosaics and ceiling paintings and is really a collector by heart. Not a professor of history, but a really nice guy.there was no entrance fee, but rather a donation box.
We had a great time at this museum, we were given a tour by the owner and creator of the museum, showing us many things including crystals, shells, books, paintings, statues. The inside of the museum is beautiful with hand painted ceilings of the Greek gods. The tour was very in depth and we learnt a lot. Definitely recommend coming here. Spyros the owner is very kind and welcoming. The entry is free but you can donate at the end which we did. 10/10
Incredible place. The owner is an amazing person - Spyros Katsouris. Poet and writer, creator of this museum. Personally conducts a tour of the museum in English. A very welcoming and friendly person who adds even more atmosphere to this lovely museum.
This is an “unknown” treasure of Rhodes. What an amazing experience to be lead through the three areas of the museum by the owner and creator of this entire exhibition. Spyros is a delightful and very, very knowledgeable host. The museum has objects from all over the world, on a vast assortment of topics, specializing in Rhodes-of course. It’s a not-to-be-missed museum. Go! You’ll be glad you did. Call first.
Wonderful collection of private items divided over 3 sections of the museum. A historical part, with artifacts all over the world, a cultural/art part and a geological part with many minerals, crystals, seashells and stones. We got a personal tour from Mr. Spyros Katsouris who is very passionate in showing everything. I greatly recommend visiting this place.
