Visited here many years ago. Atmospheric but nothing really there. I assume this was actually the old main road to Lindos in the 1940's. A little further west is the remains of the old Italian Airfield. Never mentioned but visible tarmac/concrete visible from the main modern Lindos road. Fuzzed out interestingly on Google Maps. Why fuzzed out? It's over 70 year ago since it was used !
The fact that the old road between Archangelos and Lindos is still kept in fairly good shape is nothing short of a miracle. Because the road actually no longer has any real use. Except to get to a small church, olive groves and the bridge that was built during the Italian occupation. Which is also still doing surprisingly well. Railings or other protection on the side - none. So be careful, we are in Greece after all 🙂
A bridge built during the Italian occupation, with an elegant and well-maintained line. It can be easily reached by making a small detour from state road 95 (Rodi-Lindos) on a small asphalt road which reaches the bridge in 2 km and then continues to return to the state road.
The bridge was built during Fascist Italy. Placed across the torrent, on the old Rhodes-Lindos road. A preserved and functional example of the architecture of the time. Entrance, transport free... The surroundings are planted with old olive trees.
