Ilyssion Hotel

FEATURES
The Ilyssion Hotel, located at Μακρύς Τοίχος, Πεύκοι 851 07, Rhodes Island, Greece, presents a distinctly mixed experience according to recent guest feedback. Positioned as a hotel, resort hotel, lodging, and point of interest, its reviews highlight both remarkable positives and significant drawbacks, making it a property that caters to specific expectations rather than offering a universally luxurious experience.
The Good: Views, Location & Amiable Staff ✨
One of the most consistently praised aspects of Ilyssion Hotel is its fabulous location and breathtaking views. Guests frequently commend the "very nice view from the balcony," "fabulous view," and "beautiful views" of the sea. The hotel's position is described as "marvelous" and "excellent," offering "easy access to the beach." There's also a convenient small supermarket on-site with fair prices, and the nearest town is easily accessible by foot, which is a plus given bus unreliability.
The staff generally receives positive remarks, with descriptions such as "nice and smiling people," "amiable," and "generally pleasant" receptionists. Rooms, particularly those with a sea view, are often noted as being "cleaned every day," contributing to a comfortable stay for many.
For those seeking a tranquil retreat, the hotel offers a "quiet place" with "tree shadows," enhancing the relaxing atmosphere.
Areas for Improvement: The Food & All-Inclusive Experience 🍽️
The culinary experience at Ilyssion Hotel is arguably its most contentious point, drawing sharp criticism from several guests. The food is frequently described as a "disaster," with complaints about lack of variety ("same dishes are served every day") and questionable quality. Specific examples cited include canned fruit and plain mushrooms for breakfast, and for lunch, "disgusting nuggets," "grilled meat that hasn't been grilled enough," and "soggy fries." Some guests found only dinner to be "edible," while others deemed the food so poor that they had to eat out most days.
This directly impacts the perceived value of the "all-inclusive" package, which many reviewers felt was "not worth it at all" due to the food limitations and restrictions. Issues like constantly empty cups/glasses and unrefilled milk for breakfast also contribute to a sense of inadequate service in the dining area.
Cleanliness, Amenities & Suitability for Families ⚠️
While some guests praised daily room cleaning, others raised concerns about the cleaning staff not cleaning rooms properly, sweeping dirt into corners, and leaving piles of dirt and sand on balconies and in drains. The perception of the pool also varies wildly: one guest described a "great pool area for families," while another likened it to a "pond" that was "not a clean one," questioning its suitability even for fish.
The "beach" experience also faces scrutiny; despite claims of easy access, one review notes it's "laughable" and "not even by the sea" in the way one might expect from a resort. For families with children, the hotel might not be the ideal choice, as some reviewers noted a "nonexistent" entertainment program for kids, with only "fizzy drinks" offered and a recommendation to buy water from nearby shops due to poor water quality.
Safety was also a concern for one reviewer, who felt guests were "basically on their own" with staff appearing indifferent to well-being.
Who is Ilyssion Hotel For? 🤔
Based on the contrasting feedback, Ilyssion Hotel appears to be best suited for travelers who:
- Prioritize stunning views and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere over gourmet dining.
- Are happy with basic, decent accommodation and amenities, not expecting luxury.
- Are willing to explore local dining options outside the hotel, even if on an all-inclusive package.
- Value a good location with walking access to nearby towns and a supermarket.
It may be less suitable for those with high expectations for food quality, extensive kids' entertainment, or a pristine, easily accessible traditional beach experience directly from the hotel premises. Guests seeking a truly "lux" or 4-star all-inclusive resort experience with varied and high-quality food might find themselves disappointed.
The hotel itself is beautifully designed and the receptionists are nice too.The food is a disaster! The same dishes are served every day.For breakfast there is canned fruit and mushrooms with nothing on them. Cups and glasses are always empty and milk is never refilled. For lunch there is the same thing every day, always disgusting nuggets that are reminiscent of tofu, grilled meat that hasn't been grilled enough and soggy fries. The only edible thing is dinner. All in all, that means that all-inclusive is not worth it at all.In addition, the cleaning staff don't clean the rooms properly and sweep the dirt into the corners. Twice there was a huge pile of dirt and sand on the balcony and even in the drain on the balcony.Since I don't want to write only bad things: the view from the balcony is very nice, there is a small supermarket where the price-performance ratio is about right, you can easily walk to the nearest town since you can't rely on buses there anyway.
Thank you, Ilyssion, for our great holiday! We had 14 amazing days, with all we need: cleaned rooms, nice and smiling people, fabulous view, amazing sea, tree shadows and quiet place. It may be not a perfect choice for kids, no-swimmers and people who are going just for food and drinks, but we loved every minute there. We found just a little inconvenient (it must be one, otherwise other may say you had written that): the doors downstairs to dinning room were almost always closed so we had to go round and that stole us almost 3 minutes of sea-time! :)) Excepting that, it was perfect! Thank you, again!
We just finished a 14 days trip in this hotel. The room was with a sea view, cleaned every day, staff realy amiable and location was marvelous. The food was really decent, so for those who are not satisfied with, if you want luxury menus go to a luxury resort.
I recently stayed at this so-called 4-star hotel, but it barely deserves 1 star. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place is not as advertised. The "all-inclusive" package comes with countless restrictions—good luck finding anything worth eating because the food is so bad, we had to eat outside most days. Safety is a joke here; you're basically on your own, and the staff doesn’t seem to care about your well-being.The "beach" is laughable—it's not even by the sea! The pool with a "sea view" is actually more like a pond, and not a clean one at that. I wouldn't even let my fish swim in it, let alone my kids. Speaking of kids, the entertainment is nonexistent. They offer nothing but fizzy drinks for kids, and even the water is so bad you’re better off buying it from a nearby shop.Overall, this place is a complete disaster. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.
Our stay at this unique and lux hotel was a great experience. On the positive side, the hotel's location is excellent, with easy access to the beach and beautiful views. The pool area is great for families, and the staff were generally pleasant. Definitely we'll be back for more days!
